Getting Email Up to Date

In spite of Apple’s overall high reputation for quality products, their Mail application has always struck me as coming up short of the bar. Limited format availability, lack of integration with iCal, clumsy setup for multiple accounts — the list goes on. And while the up-and-coming Leopard promises to fix some of these issues, for now I’ll stick with Mozilla’s Thunderbird.

The email client includes a simple setup, advanced security and anti-spam features, and multipart text/html email format. Missing a standalone address book [unlike Mail]. Calendar integration is limited as of yet: Sunbird and Lightning use the same format as iCal, but there’s no easy subscription process available. Probably good potential to integrate with Gmail; additional research is needed here. More to come.
